A Message from Executive Director Jennifer Prochnow
On behalf of the business community and residents of Round Valley, I want to thank
you for your interest in our region. From outdoor activities to shopping and lunch,
Round Valley has something for everyone.
Located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, our area offers hiking, camping,
fishing, and trail-riding. Whether you prefer horseback, bicycle, on foot, or ATV,
there is a trail system for you. If fishing is your game, our mountain streams and
lakes are teeming with trout, pan fish, and a variety of other species of fish.
The wildlife that live in our forests and meadows are abundant, and you will find
many opportunities to capture their beauty on film.
If shopping and lunch are more your speed, you’ll find a wide variety of boutiques,
shops, and restaurants in our downtown areas. Area specific merchandise, antiques,
artwork, and the basic necessities are all available for purchase. After hours of
shopping, sit, relax, and enjoy the cuisine at one of our restaurants. You may enjoy
your meal on a patio, or in the comfort of a climate controlled building.
For the history buff, there are many attractions that will satisfy your interests.
Our towns host a myriad of museums and sites that reflect the rich history of the
area. Casa Malpais is an ancient Puebloan site that was an ancestral home to the
Zuni and Hopi. Tours are available Tuesday through Saturday at 9, 11, and 2. There are several museums
where tours are available upon request. Reflecting our Old West and ranching history
is a Historical Park that you can peruse at your leisure. We are also the home to
the 26 Bar Ranch, a working ranch that belonged to John Wayne and is now run by
the Hopi Tribe. And, be sure to check out Sipe Wildlife Area and Becker Lake Wildlife
Area.
Round Valley is also the home of the Round Valley Enshpere. The Ensphere, which
was built in 1992, serves as the primary structure for interscholastic athletic
and physical education activities at Round Valley High School as well as for other
school and community activities. The facility is located on the campus of the Round
Valley High School.
Stop in at the Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center to learn more about the attractions
we have to offer. We have trail maps, road maps, and information on all the sights
to be seen. No matter what your interests are, I’m sure you will find something
in Round Valley to enjoy. We invite you to come and see all that we have to offer.
